How licensing works
How many developer licenses do I need?
One license covers one developer. Every developer who wants to use the Common Controls framework needs their own license. We offer a Single, 5 User or Site License for this.
These licenses are for development purposes only. Once the application is sold or put online, a single runtime license has to be purchased for production use. It covers shipping the components with your own software and running any number of production systems.
Whether you buy a Single, 5 User or Site License – you only ever need one runtime license.
Why is the runtime license separate?
We deliberately did not bundle the runtime license with the developer license so that additional developer licenses can be offered at a lower price.
Can a license be transferred when a developer leaves the company?
If the license belongs to the company rather than to the developer personally, it can be passed on to another developer.
Can I use my license on more than one workstation?
Yes, as long as you are the only developer working at those workstations. The license covers one developer, so if that developer owns several machines they may use it on all of them. It must be ensured that nobody else can use the license.
What is a Site License?
A Site License allows Common Controls to be used simultaneously on any number of workstations within the company at one specific location.
Example: if a company has development departments at locations X, Y and Z, separate licenses are required for each location.
What support do I get?
Every developer receives their own user name and password for the update area, where updates and optional packages can be downloaded. Access is granted for the term of the contract; update support is currently free for one year from the date of purchase.
With a Site License, developers are not registered individually – named contacts are registered instead.
What does updating cost after the first year?
Extending update support by another year costs 50 % of the current list price.
Billing and delivery
Which currency is billed?
All prices are in Euros and include the legally applicable VAT.
Can I pay in US dollars?
Yes. We offer ordering in USD based on the Euro price. To limit the exchange rate risk during the billing cycle we include a buffer in the rate – this is currency hedging, not a surcharge. Please get in touch with us directly to order in USD.
Do I have to pay VAT?
For sales within the EU the prices include the legally applicable VAT (19 %) unless a valid VAT registration number is provided. With a valid VAT registration number we do not add VAT and you can self-assess at your EU member country rate.
For sales outside the EU we do not add VAT if the billing address belongs to a company. Please get in touch in that case and send us your order by e-mail.
How can I pay?
We invoice exclusively; credit card payment is no longer offered. You receive an invoice with all the details for the bank transfer. Please check possible fees for international transfers with your bank beforehand.
How is the software shipped?
The software is offered for download – there is no physical media. If you need the software on CD, please get in touch; additional costs apply.
When do I get my download link?
Prepayment is required: you receive access to the customer area once the payment has arrived – this can take up to a week.
